There are few scenarios in the cardiac catheterization laboratory quite as dramatic as a coronary artery perforation. While some instances of this mishap are subtle, others are quite dramatic. Fortunately this occurrence is rare, but carries with it a significant risk of serious adverse events. The potential for harm may be reduced by the brisk identification of the problem within the catheter laboratory, together with early implementation of treatment.
