The natriuretic peptide (NP) family, to date, consists of four structurallysimilar hormones, A, B, C, and D, each sharing a 17 aminoacid disulphide ring structure. They are counter-regulatoryhormones in heart failure (HF) and have a major role in controllingcardiovascular homeostasis via their key effector functions:natriuresis, diuresis, and vasodilatation.
