Both atrial and ventricular arrhythmias are common in patientswith heart failure (HF), regardless of the underlying aetiology. Arrhythmias contribute significantly to symptoms, and lead to anincrease in morbidity and mortality. In particular, ventriculararrhythmias can cause sudden cardiac death (SCD). Therefore, thediagnosis and treatment of arrhythmias is an important element inthe clinical management of patients with HF.
