A 45-year-old woman was admitted, having fallen down the stairs whilst intoxicated. She had severe neck pain at the time but went to bed overnight and only called an ambulance when the pain was still there the next morning, preventing her from getting out of bed. She denies neurological symptoms and examination of her arms and legs is normal. She is immobilized in a hard collar.
