A 68-year-old woman presented with a sudden onset of left arm weakness whilst eating breakfast such that she dropped her fork and was unable to pick it up. This lasted for around 30 minutes, after which there was a gradual recovery to normal. She attended the emergency department where a CT scan was performed. The contrast enhanced scan is shown in Fig. 26.1. Her medical history includes coronary heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, and multiple strokes.
