Fisher retrospectively reviewed detailed case reports on 227 patients who had experienced severe reactions clinically resembling anaphylaxis related to anaesthesia, 205 of whom had suffered cardiovascular collapse. Adrenaline was confirmed as the most effective treatment and volume deficits were most effectively treated with colloid solutions.
