In this chapter, we discuss surgical treatments for epilepsy other than straightforward resective brain surgery. Some procedures such as corpus callosotomy and hemispherectomy are long standing and established methods of effecting palliation as well as complete long-term remission from seizures. Others such as multiple subpial transection are innovative techniques although of limited efficacy. Still others such as hippocampal transection are new innovations which are currently undergoing evaluation and may be of benefit to some patients with mesial temporal lobe epilepsy.
