Adult Congenital Heart Disease

Show Summary Details

Remarkable improvement in outcomes for patients with congenital heart disease has occurred over the past half century owing to better diagnostic tools leading to early recognition and enhanced surgical repair. Now it is estimated that 85% of all newborns with congenital heart disease will reach adulthood. Given the growing population of adults with congenital heart disease (increasing by 5% per year), there are more adults than children with congenital heart disease. This chapter addresses topics germane to the treatment of adults with congenital heart disease.
