Preview

Endomyocardial biopsy is indicated in selected patients with suspected myocardial disease in which the diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic information likely to be obtained outweighs the patient risks associated with the procedure. A caveat with regard to recommendation for endomyocardial biopsy is that there is no randomized, controlled trial on the utility of endomyocardial biopsy in myocardial disease and, thus, recommendations are based on expert clinical opinion.
