 Feminist Scholarship

Show Summary Details

This chapter examines feminist biblical scholarship. It begins with a discussion of feminist critique of the Bible. It outlines the basis of the critique — the problems that the Bible and the interpretative tradition raise for feminist readers — and then it looks at ways feminist critics have found to engage with these texts. It is shown that feminist critiques and responses are more diverse in their aims and their approaches than simply denigrating the tradition and then rehabilitating it.
