accessory nuclei

Quick Reference

Bodies resembling small nuclei that occur in the oocytes of most Hymenoptera and those of some Hemiptera, Coleoptera, Lepidoptera, and Diptera. Accessory nuclei are covered by a double membrane possessing annulate pores. They are originally derived from the oocyte nucleus, but they subsequently form by the amitotic division of other accessory nuclei.
