A malignant tumour of the salivary glands in which the cells typically resemble salivary acini. It is now classified by the World Health Organization (WHO) as acinic cell carcinoma. It is most commonly seen in the parotid gland and may produce symptoms of pain and tenderness. Tumours arising from non-epithelial tissue of the salivary glands (sarcomas) are very rare.
