The most popular implementation of the Channel Definition Format, a standard which enables a broadcaster to generate content in real time to a browser. Active Channel technology was developed by the Microsoft Corporation. The user of this technology is able to receive Web content in real time as it is broadcast. It is an example of push technology where a server broadcasts information to a client rather than the client asking for the information.
