In psychoanalysis, a set of technical procedures presented by the Hungarian psychoanalyst Sandor Ferenczi (1873–1933) to the 1920 Psychoanalytic Congress in The Hague, with the approval of Sigmund Freud (1856–1939), in which the analyst is encouraged to go beyond interpretation (2) and on occasions to issue instructions and prohibitions to patients.
