adenine nucleotide translocator

Quick Reference

One of the solute carrier family of proteins (ANT, ADP/ATP translocator, SLC25A4), the most abundant mitochondrial protein, a homodimer of 298 aa subunits embedded asymmetrically in the inner mitochondrial membrane that forms a gated pore through which ADP is moved from the matrix into the cytoplasm. Mutations in this gene lead to progressive external ophthalmoplegia type A2.
