Participants in aerobics often judge when they have achieved this state by the perception of elevated heart rate and breathing frequency. They also may experience mood elevation attributable to release of endorphins. This may lead to “addictive” or compulsive maintenance of an aerobics regimen. The benefits of aerobics include improved physiological function and increased longevity when the activity is sustained over many years.
