Quick Reference

Son of Wihtred, succeeded to the throne in 725, probably sharing power with his brother Eadberht. His last charter is dated 762 and he died later that year. A letter to St Boniface is extant, sending gifts and asking for a pair of falcons who would fearlessly attack cranes. He seems to have acknowledged Aethelbald of Mercia as overlord.
