Quick Reference

Rain forest (tropical rain forest) occurs in perhumid climates in tropical lowlands where rainfall is heavy and where there is little or no dry season. Floristically, three main regions of the rain forest are recognized: the African, American, and Indo-Malesian. These regions share few species and genera in common.
