Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

A group of toxins from the American funnel web spider Agalenopsis aperta. The ω-agatoxins (~100 aa) are antagonists of voltage-sensitive calcium channels and block the release of neurotransmitters. For example, ω-agatoxin 1A selectively blocks L-type calcium channels, ω-agatoxin 4B inhibits voltage-sensitive P-type calcium channels. The μ-agatoxins act only on insect voltage-gated sodium channels.
