Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

A person who actively entices, encourages, or persuades another person to commit a crime that would not otherwise have been committed and then reports the person to the authorities (see entrapment). The agent provocateur may be regarded as an accomplice in any offence committed as a result of this intervention; however, the fact that the principal was enticed, encouraged, or persuaded by the agent provocateur provides no defence for the principal.

Subjects: Law.
