Italian motorcyclist who in the course of his career won a record 122 Grands Prix and 15 world titles.

Agostini was born in Bergamo. In the decade of his greatest achievements (1966–75) he won ten Isle of Man TT races, including the Senior TT five times (1968–72), the world 350 cc title consecutively from 1968 to 1974, and the world 500 cc title consecutively from 1966 to 1972 and in 1975, the year of his retirement. Agostini's eight victories for 500 cc set a world record that has remained unbroken. He is also the only rider to have won world championships at two different levels for five consecutive years. Thirteen of Agostini's world titles were won on an MV Augusta, the others on a Yamaha. After his retirement he became manager of the Yamaha racing team.
