Name of the eastern sacrificial fire, one of the three major fires of the śrauta ritualist. Like the dakṣiṇāgni, it is expanded from the gārhapatya or ‘householder's' fire; it is established on a square mound to the east of the sacrificial area and receives the cooked oblations to the gods (devas).
