Korean dancer and choreographer. She studied at Ewha Women's University and with Yook Wan-soon. In 1983 she formed her own modern dance group as well as performing in Yook Wan-soon's company and in the same year choreographed Guys and Dolls, the first musical to be staged in Korea. In 1984 she joined the Korean Modern Dance Company, creating for it several works, such as Sun, Moon, Breath (mus. Nyman, 1994) which fused traditional Korean dance and rituals with the language of Western modern dance. Her most recent works for her own company include 11th Shadow and Circle – After the Other (both 2005) and Galapagos (2008). Her company tours internationally.
