(b Regensburg, 1564; d Augsburg, 1628).

Ger. organist and composer. Spent some years in It. and was influenced by Venetian sch., notably Giovanni Gabrieli whose pupil he became. His religious choral works are among the finest of their time in Ger. His Cantiones ecclesiasticae (1607), containing Latin motets and settings of Magnificat, was first Ger. publication with thoroughbass.
