Quick Reference

1. Genes ‘absent in melanoma’: AIM1 encodes a protein (1723 aa) of the βγ-crystallin superfamily that is up-regulated in association with tumour suppression in a model of human melanoma. AIM2 encodes a deduced 344-aa protein that has a conserved sequence domain (~200 aa) shared with interferon-inducible genes. Overexpression of AIM2 reversed the tumorigenic phenotype in a melanoma cell line. See PAAD domain.

2. See aurora kinases.
