US dancer and choreographer. He studied with Mordkin, becoming a dancer with his company, and during the 1930s and early 1940s he became a leading choreographer of Broadway musicals, including Anything Goes, Ziegfeld Follies (1938, 1940, and 1942), Hellzapoppin', and Pal Joey. He was equally prominent in Hollywood, choreographing film musicals like Ziegfeld Follies, Annie Get Your Gun,Show Boat, White Christmas, There's No Business like Show Business, and Daddy Long Legs.
