Leading Argentinian architect who, in his role as Architect to the Ministry of Public Works in that city, became an important promoter of the Modern Movement, developing prefabrication techniques, engineering, and town-planning. His buildings include the San Martin Sanatorium (1936–7), Buenos Aires, the San Martín Cultural Centre (1953–60), Corrientes, and the IBM Argentina Headquarters (1979–84). Catalinas Norte. His SOMISA building (1966–77), Buenos Aires, was the first in Argentina constructed entirely of steel and glass, and one of the first in the world to be wholly welded.
