British artist, writer and director. She illustrated Haskell's Ballet (Pelican, 1938) and collaborated with him on Balletomane's Sketchbook (1943) before publishing her own Ballet Lover's Pocket Book (1943), Ballet Lover's Companion (1948), and Beginners, Please (1953). In 1950 she became artistic director of Ram Gopal's company, in the same year publishing Classic Dances and Costumes of India, then in 1952 became artistic adviser of the National Ballet of Canada, designing around 30 productions for the company before retiring in 1961.
