A monotypic genus comprising A. nobilis, a small tree that, despite being difficult to grow, is prized in cultivation for its racemes of spectacular, large, pink-red flowers and pinkish tassels of pendant young leaves. The stamens are fused as a tube. The tree is native to Burma.
