Ballet in one act with choreography and libretto by Babilée, music by Franck, and design by Cocteau. Premiered 13 Dec. 1948 at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées with Babilée and Philippart. It is set to Franck's 1888 tone poem Psyché, which portrays the mythological encounter between Eros and Psyche. A highly successful ballet using the same story (Psyche et l'Amour) with music by J. J. Rudolphe (Stuttgart) was choreographed by Noverre in 1762.
