Quick Reference

A curve that depicts the changing altitude of the Sun during the year at noon, and also the difference between apparent solar time and mean solar time. The analemma is shaped like a thin figure of eight, its height corresponding to the Sun's altitude and its width to the time difference. It was originally a refinement to sundials that allowed corrections to be made for the equation of time.
