Quick Reference

A form of geometry in which points are located in a two-dimensional, three-dimensional, or higher dimensional space by means of a system of coordinates. Curves are represented by an equation for a set of such points. The geometry of figures can thus be analysed by algebraic methods. See Cartesian coordinates; polar coordinates.
