Anatomic Therapeutic Chemical classification

An international systematic standard for pharmaceutical drugs that groups them according to the organ or tissue on which they act, their mode of action, and their chemical composition. The ATC uses a unit of measurement, the defined daily dose (DDD). The World Health Organization endorses the use of ATC/DDD, but it emphasizes that this does not necessarily imply approval of any specific ATC drugs.
