was a rich Athenian politician and atthidographer (see atthis). His long political career involved service to Athens in many capacities. For some reason he ended his life in exile in Megara, where he wrote his Atthis. This eight‐book work was more concerned with contemporary events than earlier Atthidĕs; the last five books covered the period 404–c.340. We have 68 fragments. They show the chauvinism of a local historian, moderated by a scholarly concern for accuracy.
