(c. 1505–61). Principal of the Collège de la Trinité at Lyon and supposed author of the Quintil Horatien (1550), a satirical attack on Du Bellay's Défense et illustration. He translated into French the emblems of Alciati (1549); his own Picta poesis (1552), commentaries on a series of printer's illustrations, appeared in both Latin and French. His translation of the third book of Ovid's Metamorphoses (1556) has an interesting theoretical preface. He also wrote plays and an extravagant prose fiction entitled Alector (1560).
