Flexibility of the ankle can be improved by slowly rotating the joint through its full range of movement and by performing the following simple stretching exercises.

▪ Sit on the floor with your right leg crossed over your left leg so that you can manipulate your right foot. Extend your right foot and stretch the toes. By grasping the top of foot with your left hand and the heel with your right hand, use your hands to stretch the toes a little further.

▪ Sit on the floor with your right leg crossed over your left leg so that you can manipulate your right foot. Extend your right foot and stretch the toes. By grasping the top of foot with your left hand and the heel with your right hand, use your hands to stretch the toes a little further.

▪ Kneel with your hands on the floor to support your body. Slowly lower your buttocks towards and, if possible, onto your heels. Hold the stretched position for about 10 seconds, then relax.
