First postulated by Irwin H. Ante, a Canadian dentist, in 1926. It states that the combined pericemental area of all abutment teeth supporting a fixed dental prosthesis should be equal to or greater in pericemental area than the tooth or teeth to be replaced. Ante's law is generally considered to be a guide rather than a law.
