Quick Reference

Valley developed along the axis of an anticline. Inward-facing escarpments are developed where the upper beds of the anticline are relatively resistant, while softer lower materials occupy the valley floor. It is a common land-form in gently folded strata of varying resistance, such as occur in southern Britain.
