The Council was held on the occasion of the consecration of Constantine's ‘Golden Church’ at Antioch. Four creeds were put forward to replace that of Nicaea. The 25 (mainly disciplinary) ‘Canons of Antioch’ were long thought to have been the work of this Council but are now generally held to belong to a Council held at Antioch in 330.
