A two‐part play by J. Marston, printed 1602, probably acted two years earlier; it provided Jonson with materials for his ridicule of Marston in The Poetaster. Set in Italy, it is a drama of passion and revenge, in which Antonio, son of the duke of Genoa, is driven to murder Piero, duke of Venice, whose daughter Mellida he has loved and lost.
