Probably the earliest Dharmasūtra text, belonging to the Taittirīya branch of the Black Yajur Veda. Part of the voluminous Āpastamba Kalpasūtra ascribed to Āpastamba, the Āpastamba Dharmasūtra deals with such topics as the rules governing the life of the Vedic student, the life of the householder, matters of criminal and civil law, the āśramas, and the duties of the king.
