Mexican statistician. Aranda-Ordaz obtained his BS and MS degrees at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) before going to IC where the supervisor of his PhD (awarded in 1981) was Sir David Cox. He returned to Mexico, joining the staff at UNAM, where he was Professor of Statistics at the time of his early death.
