Quick Reference

Residence or court of Pwyll in early Welsh narrative. Outside the court was the gorsedd, or ‘throne mound’, from which Pwyll first saw Rhiannon on her magic horse. The mound apparently had ritual significance in early narrative, but it has been given new meaning in the folk celebrations of modern nationalists. Arberth may be on the site of the modern town of Narberth, Dyfed (until 1974, Pembrokeshire).
