Quick Reference
Heath that is found in the low and middle Arctic belts of the tundra. Normally it is dominated by members of the heath family (Ericaceae) or by heath-like plants, e.g. Vaccinium vitis-idaea (crowberry). Arctic heaths tend to be restricted to relatively well-drained sites that are sheltered and snow-covered in winter.
