Bent into a bow-like curve. The arcuate nucleus in the hypothalamus has two major types of neurons, one that secretes neuropeptide Y and agouti-related peptide, the other, POMC/CART neurons, that produce α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-*MSH).
