Common Irish place-name which survives in eight locations on the modern map. (1) A village in Co. Longford, 5 miles SSW of Edgeworthstown, near Brí Léith, the home of Midir; it is sometimes named instead of Brí Léith. (2) A village in Co. Limerick, 3 miles N of Newcastle, site of important archaeological finds from early Christian Ireland, including the celebrated Ardagh Chalice.
