An endoscopic procedure used predominantly to control active bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract. A monopolar electrosurgical current is delivered to tissue via an ionized argon gas stream (argon plasma) leading to coagulation. Other uses of this procedure include debulking of tumours not amenable to surgical intervention.
