Arp2/3 complex

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

A seven-membered complex that plays an important part in regulating actin assembly in cells. There are two actin-related proteins (Arp2 and Arp3) with five other subunits: ARC41 (ArpC1B), Arc34 (ARPC2), Arc21 (ARPC3), Arc20 (ARPC4), and Arc16 (ARPC5). Arp2/3 caps the pointed end of actin filaments and nucleates actin polymerization with low efficiency. See also ActA; IcsA.
