articulated progression

Quick Reference

A clearly defined progression route through the qualification system, which enables the learner to choose the appropriate next step in education or training towards their goal, whether it be university entrance or access to a trade or profession. The concept of articulated progression also involves establishing a clear statement of value or equivalence for each qualification. For example, following the introduction of foundation degrees, it was necessary to establish a clear articulation and progression route from the foundation degree to the bachelor's degree, which, depending upon the higher education institution concerned, is now established as involving either a bridging course or direct entry to the final year of the bachelor's degree.
