An exponent of Śaiva Siddhānta, based on the Jaffna peninsula of Sri Lanka, who wrote and published works in Tamil on the correct performance of temple worship. His purpose was to educate the Śaiva population of Sri Lanka and southern India, and thereby to protect them against the criticisms and proselytizing of Protestant Christian missionaries.
